Insight Austria consists of a team of internationally recognised researchers that aim to support public servants in applying behavioral economics insights for the welfare of all Austrians.

The Competence Centre for Behavioral Economics was established in 2018 at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna with support from the Federal Ministry of Finance, the Federal Ministry for Family and Youth as well as from the Industriellenvereinigung. We have taken it as our goal to make public services simpler and more cost-efficient.

When designing policies, we rely on a vast scientific literature from the field of behavioral economics, to assist people in their actions where they need it most. Furthermore, we investigate the effectiveness of these policies via controlled trials, so as to establish which of the intended effects occur and which do not. This step is crucial for an effective public policy design that efficiently makes use of all available means. More detailed information about our work can be retrieved under Our Services.
